Unlike the previous A1-193 Jigglypuff, the new Promo-22 Jigglypuff only requires one energy to unleash its Sing attack, dealing 30 damage and putting the opponent’s active Pokémon to sleep.

The plan is to evolve Promo-22 Jigglypuff into A1-195 WigglytuffEX.

This evolution enhances our Pokémon's health, making them tougher to defeat, and allows us to use Sleepy Song, which inflicts 80 damage while keeping the opponent's active Pokémon asleep.

Happy battling! In this deck, the asleep condition plays a crucial role, effectively hindering your opponent's ability to attack or retreat their Pokémon. This strategy not only disrupts their offensive moves but also grants you valuable time to mount your own attacks and gradually secure knockouts.

Incorporating the A1-177-Weezing line allows you to activate Gas Leak on your opponent's active Pokémon, steadily reducing their hit points. By returning A1-177-Weezing to your hand using A1-222-Koga, you can prevent your opponent from easily scoring a match point, while also facilitating the deployment of A1-195-WigglytuffEX to start putting Pokémon to sleep.

For the initial phases of the game, the deck utilizes A1-140-Dugtrio and Promo-21-Onix, setting the stage for A1-149-Golem as your primary win condition. All Pokémon included are non-EX, meaning your opponent will need to knock out three of your Pokémon to claim victory.

A1-140-Dugtrio can unleash its Dig Attack with just one Fighting Energy, dealing 40 damage and allowing you a chance to prevent damage with a coin flip. If heads, this ability can significantly stall your opponent’s progress.

Promo-21-Onix, as a sturdy basic Pokémon, can deal 70 damage through Land Crush; however, it requires three Fighting Energy, which can make it a slower option. This is where A1-224-Brock comes into play, enabling you to attach Fighting Energy to either Promo-21-Onix or A1-149-Golem, enhancing your overall strategy.

A1-149-Golem serves as the powerhouse later in the game, boasting 160 health and the formidable Double-Edge attack, which inflicts 150 damage on the opponent's active Pokémon. While this move can eliminate most threats, it does come with a risk, dealing 50 damage to itself and potentially leaving you vulnerable on the opponent's next turn. One of the standout cards from Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2 is a1-123-gengarex, a Stage 2 Pokémon that boasts an impressive ability called Shadowy Spellbind.

This ability has the potential to significantly hinder your opponent's strategy by preventing them from using any Supporter cards.

However, since a1-123-gengarex is a Stage 2 Pokémon, it may take some time to get it into play.

Its attack, Spooky Shot, delivers a solid 100 damage, making it capable of taking down basic Pokémon and allowing you to deal with higher HP threats effectively.

To facilitate the early game and ensure a1-123-gengarex enters play swiftly, you’ll want to include a1-120-gastly and promo-20-haunter in your deck.

Promo-20-haunter is particularly useful, as it requires just one energy to use its attack, Surprising Attack, which flips a coin; if heads, it inflicts 50 damage.

While waiting for a1-123-gengarex, stalling is crucial, and this is where a1-203-kangaskhan and a1-127-jynx come into play.

A1-203-kangaskhan can hit hard early on, using its Dizzy Punch attack, which also relies on a coin flip to determine damage, delivering 30 damage for each heads.

This attack is efficient, requiring only one colorless energy, allowing for the use of psychic energy without overextending your resources.

On the other hand, a1-127-jynx requires two energy to attack, but its damage output scales with the energy attached to your opponent’s Pokémon, making it a strategic asset against energy-heavy opponents.

If your opponent has Pokémon that require substantial energy to launch their attacks, a1-127-jynx can become a game-changer.

Another notable card is promo-19-greninja, a formidable water-type Pokémon that finds its place in various decks.

Two particularly successful combinations include a1-76-starmieex and a1-84-articunoex, where promo-19-greninja excels.

Strategic Pokémon Deck Building

Promo-19-Greninja is a Stage 2 Pokémon, which means it requires careful setup to maximize its potential. The priority is to have A1-87-Froakie on the bench as soon as possible, evolving it into A1-88-Frogadier, before bringing in Promo-19-Greninja. What makes Promo-19-Greninja particularly interesting is its ability to inflict damage even while sitting on the bench, thanks to Water Shuriken, which can deal 20 damage to one of the opponent's Pokémon each turn. This ability allows you to target weakened Pokémon hiding on the bench, adding strategic depth to your gameplay.

Once it's in the active position, Promo-19-Greninja can use Mist Slash to deal a solid 60 damage, making it a formidable attacker as well.

On the other hand, A1-84-ArticunoEX features a Blizzard attack that inflicts 80 damage. While this number isn’t overly intimidating, it gains value from its synergy with the extra 10 damage dealt to all of the opponent's benched Pokémon. However, keep in mind that Blizzard requires three energy to activate, making it a slow option for a basic Pokémon that could be in play early in the game. This is where A1-220-Misty shines, as getting just one water energy onto A1-84-ArticunoEX can significantly turn the tide in your favor.

For a faster strategy, consider utilizing A1-76-StarmieEX as an early aggressor, applying pressure to the opponent while keeping Promo-19-Greninja in reserve to deliver additional damage. A1-76-StarmieEX benefits from a zero-cost retreat, allowing you to switch it out for another Pokémon on your bench, which complicates your opponent's efforts to secure a knockout.

Finally, let's not forget Promo-18-Venusaur and A1-23-ExeggutorEX. Promo-18-Venusaur is another Stage 2 Pokémon that requires a significant amount of energy to become effective, thus necessitating early-game Pokémon to stall until it can dominate the field.

This deck includes A1-23-ExeggutorEX, but A1-30-Lilligant could also be a viable choice. A1-23-ExeggutorEX requires just one grass energy to unleash Tropical Swing, an attack that deals 40 damage and can potentially double that with a coin flip. Scoring heads means an additional 40 damage, bringing the total to 80, which can be crucial for knocking out high-HP Pokémon during the early game stages. To effectively build a strong deck using the Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2 cards, establishing a solid foundation with Bulbasaur early on is crucial.

Ideally, you want a1-1-Bulbasaur on your bench, allowing you to evolve it into a1-2-Ivysaur.

However, since a1-2-Ivysaur requires three energy to utilize its Razor Leaf attack, it can be somewhat challenging and time-consuming to set up. Therefore, it's wise to hold off on bringing him into play until promo-18-Venusaur is ready to take charge.

Once promo-18-Venusaur enters the field, it becomes a formidable presence with its robust 180 health.

With its Mega Drain attack, it can deal 80 damage while simultaneously healing itself for 30 damage. While the damage output might seem modest, this self-sustainability makes it tough for opponents to secure a knockout, granting you more opportunities to launch attacks.

Incorporating a1-219-Erika into your deck is a must since it synergizes perfectly with your grass-type strategy. This Supporter card can heal any grass-type Pokémon by 50 damage, making it an excellent companion to promo-18-Venusaur, ensuring it stays in the game longer.

Moreover, a1-219-Erika is not limited to just supporting promo-18-Venusaur; it can also help keep a1-23-Exeggutor safe from potential KOs, compelling your opponents to expend extra resources to take it down.

Among the Promo Pack cards, my personal favorite is promo-19-Greninja, thanks to its unique Water Shuriken ability. This card has found its way into numerous decks as an alternative win condition, making it a fantastic choice for those looking to create innovative builds.

While promo-18-Venusaur might not be a staple in competitive tournaments, its stunning promo art makes it a desirable addition to any collection, and the grass deck remains competitive in casual games.
